Farmer Barry Goy, 55, of Hudson Bay, Sask., has received a conditional sentence, which confines him to his residence for two years less a day, orders him to carry out 200 hours of community service and orders him to pay restitution of $206,591.

Goy pleaded guilty to defrauding the Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corp. and the Canadian Wheat Board of that amount at provincial court in Melfort, Sask., Dec. 7.

The investigation began in January 2005 by Hudson bay RCMP and Yorkton District General Investigation Section and eventually led the charges of fraud over $5,000.
