The European Union has dropped its tariff on high quality durum that threatened exports from Canada, the United States and Mexico.

The Canadian Wheat Board said the tariff had been in place for about a month and was dropped when the board and others complained about how it was calculated. It was worth the equivalent of about $25 Cdn per tonne.

Tariffs on medium and low quality durum remain but have been lowered.
