The 105-year-old P & H elevator on 18th Street West in Saskatoon is vacant and destined to be torn down in the near future.
The concrete landmark was built by the Saskatoon Milling Company in 1910. Quaker Oats Mill soon purchased it, which at the time was the largest milling and storage facility in Western Canada.
Parrish and Heimbecker bought it 1973. The company has since moved its feed mill business to Clavet, Sask., and its grain business to Biggar, Sask., with its newly constructed elevator.
The company has submitted an application to the city of Saskatoon for demolition as soon as possible.
