Cruelty charges laid

Two Ontario men are facing charges following a five-month investigation that uncovered dozens of dead and distressed animals on a southern Ontario farm.

The Windsor-Essex Country Humane Society has seized multiple horses, 12 rabbits, three pigs, four sheep and 10 chickens from a farm in the Tecumseh, Ont., area. In addition, another two ducks, two sheep and 10 pigs were found dead on the farm. Another pig had to be euthanized.

The two men are facing multiple charges under the Ontario SPCA act for animal abuse and neglect. Each faces a maximum sentence of two years in prison or a $60,000 fine.
