A chicken salad product sold through Costco stores across Canada has been recalled due to risk of listeria contamination.
Kirkland Signature brand roasted chicken salad has been voluntarily recalled by Costco. There have been no reported illnesses related to the recall.
Costco sold the salads in all provinces except Prince Edward Island, according to a Canadian Food Inspection Agency news release issued April 3.
The UPC code on the affected salads begins with either 247321 or 247319. The recall applies to all salads with best before dates up to and including April 3.
The salads should not be eaten and should be thrown out or returned to the store, the CFIA advised.
Listeria can cause vomiting, nausea, fever, severe headaches and muscle stiffness. It is especially dangerous to pregnant women, the elderly and those with weak immune systems.
