Warburtons has partnered with Canterra Seeds to produce and commercialize AAC W1876.

AAC is a hard red spring wheat variety bred by Agriculture Canada. Warburtons, a bakery based out of the United Kingdom, expects to contract AAC W1876 next autumn.

“This partnership is a perfect example of private companies working with our public breeding institutions to bring new export opportunities for Canadian farmers,” Canterra Seeds president David Hansen said in a news release.

It is the first time Warburtons has supported a seed through the Canadian registration system.
