Canola futures closed a little higher on Tuesday, the day when Statistics Canada estimated the crop at 18.4 million tonnes, 400,000 tonnes less than what most traders expected.
Also, rising soy oil and palm oil provided support for canola.
Minneapolis spring wheat barely changed even as Statscan estimated the all wheat crop at 31.73 million tonnes, about a million more than what the trade expected.
Statscan pegged the durum crop at 7.76 million tonnes. The average of trade expectations was 7.2 million.
Barley, peas and lentils all came in close to what the trade expected but the oats number, at 3.15 million tonnes, was a little higher than the 2.9 million tonnes that was the mid point of the trade’s expectations.

Still, the Chicago oats contract for December jumped more than five percent and the March contract was up almost 2-½ percent.
March corn closed up 1-¼ cents a bushel.
Malaysian palm oil futures hit their highest level in 4 ½ years on Tuesday, reversing losses earlier in the day, after data showed that output fell at the start of the month.
Light crude oil nearby futures in New York were down 86 cents to US$50.93 per barrel.
The Canadian dollar at noon was US75.30 cents, down from 75.35 cents the previous trading day. The U.S. dollar at noon was C$1.3281.
The TSX composite rose 30.63 points or 0.2 percent to close at 15,125.80.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 35.54 points, or 0.18 percent, to 19,251.78, the S&P 500 gained 7.52 points, or 0.34 percent, to 2,212.23 and the Nasdaq Composite added 24.11 points, or 0.45 percent, to 5,333.00.
