A 28-year-old man was killed Oct. 3 when he became entangled in a potato harvester near the town of Vauxhall, Alta.

Taber-Vauxhall RCMP reported that the man was believed to have been doing maintenance on the equipment at about 9 p.m. when he got caught in the roller section of the machine.

Emergency crews extracted him but were unable to save his life.

An obituary in the regional newspaper later identified the man as Joel Bydevaate.

RCMP cautioned farm workers to take extra care and pay attention to safety in the busy harvest period.
