Being able to remotely observe machinery location and functions is a trend in farm equipment design.

Via computer, dealerships can observe machine performance and diagnose problems before making a field visit or calling for the machine to be brought into the shop.

Farm owners and managers can observe working conditions and advise staff from a remote location. Text messages about machine status are sent via cellular modem and locations can be mapped.

JDLink telematics is a new option on all 2011 Deere machines.

Every 2011 8R Series tractor will come with the complete telematics package installed and a one year service contract.

It consists of a modem, wiring harness, controller and cellular and GPS antennas.
