Blight control
Fusarium head blight has a new enemy in Canada. The Pest Management Regulatory Agency approved Caramba, a Group 3 triazole fungicide, for registration last week.Caramba, metconazole, protects and cures a variety of fungal diseases in a variety of crops. It is made by BASF.In fusarium graminearum infections, it reduces deoxynivalenol contamination in the seed and improves yields.Application timing is critical.Caramba should be applied when 20 percent of wheat, oats or rye crops have reached the flowering stage. In barley, it should be sprayed between full head emergence and up to three days after full emergence on main stem grain heads. For more information, visit www.agro.basf.com.
