Glacier FarmMedia – Ingredion Inc. has closed its plant protein and flour processing facility at Vanscoy, Sask., effective January 6, according to filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
“The decision to cease operations of the Vanscoy manufacturing facility was made after a strategic review of this business,” the company said.
The company said it expects to sell the facility, which employed approximately 20 people.

Ingredion, based in Westchester, Illinois, produces sweeteners, starches, nutrition ingredients and other biomaterials.
Verdient Foods Inc. opened the Vanscoy plant in 2018. Ingredion entered a joint venture with the Saskatchewan company late that year in a bid to expand pulse processing.
In late 2020, Ingredion took over sole ownership of Verdient Foods, according to a news release.
