The annual Canola Performance Trials run by growers’ groups in Western Canada have completed the assessment of the field-scale yields and added that to their annual small plot results made available earlier this year. Those straight cut fields showed off yields that were up to 180 percent of the check, Invigor L340PC. However, those weren’t the norm.
This season’s tricky growing conditions can be seen in the results from the field-scale trials from across the Prairies and in the three main agri-climate growing regions.
This year’s CPT program was paid for by Alberta Canola, SaskCanola and the Manitoba Canola Growers Association, with Manitoba administering it, and some support from the Canola Council of Canada.
The canola evaluated came from farms planted with BASF – InVigor, BrettYoung Seeds, Corteva-Brevant, Canterra Seeds, Bayer-Dekalb, Corteva-Pioneer, Nutrien-Proven Seeds, Corteva-Brevant/Pioneer and Winfield United-Croplan lines.
