KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Agco has released three new 9500 series combines sharing an 8.4 litre engine, ranging from 344 to 502 horsepower.

The two larger models, the Massey Ferguson 9540 and 9560, have incorporated a V-format radiator, turbo intercooler and hydraulic cooling layout positioned below a hydraulically driven variable speed fan that manages system temperatures to optimum levels.

The company says this system reduces dust plugging and improves cooling.

To clean the system, the fan can reverse itself to purge the coolers at 15 minute intervals or when necessary, as detected through air flow sensors.

Already facing some community pushback, a proposed 2,000-head cattle feedlot south of Swift Current, Sask., has been rejected for a municipal permit, partly over zoning concerns about the minimum distance from a residence.

The purge can be manually triggered as well for end of shift or difficult dust conditions.

A new grain processor has been added that has been designed to accommodate a greater variety of crops.

With a six segment concave, the new combines have a new small wire option with 10.4 millimetre spacing for small grains, large wire 16.6 mm for soybeans and corn and round bar in a 16 mm spacing that accommodates soybeans, corn and dry beans.

The new concaves can be quickly changed by one person, according to the company.

The two bigger models mount the concaves on a spring foundation that allows them to handle large material surges without plugging.

The unload auger pushes grain out over as much as 24 feet of auger at four bushels per second.
