Smoke hasn’t deterred exhibitors or show attendees as farm show gets under way

Ag in Motion 2025’s more than 560 exhibitors haven’t let the smoke blanketing the province dampen their enthusiasm as the Langham farm show got under way on Tuesday morning.

Dr. Mike Harding, crop assurance lead for Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation, was on hand at a recent field school at Farming Smarter, telling of and showing the various cereal leaf diseases producers have to look for in the southern Alberta. To reduce the odds of ergot contamination, Agriculture Canada breeders have developed AAC Frontier, the first Canadian durum variety with resistance to ergot.

The Palliser Triangle Marketing Group may be more of a social club now, but in the mid-1990s, it meant economic survival for some southern Alberta farmers.
