The second major storm system in less than a week is beginning to push through the eastern Prairies this morning. This system is moving up from the Montana’s and the western Dakota’s and is already spreading into southern Manitoba. This system will bring a rain/snow mix to eastern Saskatchewan and Manitoba over the next three days. This will bring a total of 15 to 35 mm of total precipitation through the weekend. The heaviest snows will occur on the backside of the low which means that eastern Saskatchewan and western Manitoba will receive a trace to a few centimeters of snow. This snow will be temporary as temperatures will remain above the freezing mark throughout the weekend.

GOOD MORNING…HERE IS YOUR MORNING MARKET NEWS OVERNIGHT GRAIN TRADE Grain market bulls are showing some signs of life late…

Temperatures are expected to remain in the low double digits today, despite the rainy, cloudy conditions in the eastern Prairies. Warmer temperatures are expected in the western Prairies which will see temperatures reach the mid teens. Cooler temperatures will return to the entire Prairies tomorrow with highs mostly in the upper single digits and low teens. Temperatures will remain in the 9 to 11C range for the remainder of the weekend. Cooler weather will push into the Prairies next week with highs dropping into the mid to upper single digits.

The long-term forecast continues to call for above normal temperatures to predominate until the end of October. The good news is that this weather pattern will bring an end to the major systems that have inundated parts of the eastern Prairies. The pattern will all0w systems to move into Alberta and western Saskatchewan which are in need of follow up moisture after a drier than normal growing season. The good news is that winter will likely wait until November to make its appearance.
