CALGARY (Staff) – Two Albertans will be leading the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association for the next year.

David Andrews of Brooks has been named president and Ben Thorlakson of Carstairs is vice-president following the CCA’s recent meeting in Ottawa.

Both men are past chairs of the Alberta Cattle Commission and have experience in foreign trade and animal health issues.

Andrews, who runs a cow-calf operation in southern Alberta, was chair of the CCA foreign trade committee and sat on the Beef Information Centre promotional committee for five years.

Thorlakson is chair of the CCA animal health and meat inspection committee and has co-chaired a joint United States-Canada animal health committee with Connie Greig of the National Beef Cattlemen’s Association. He is president of Cattleland Feedyards at Strathmore and Thorlakson Feedyards at Airdrie.
