Trial date set for shooting incident

WEYBURN, Sask. – A trial date has been set for a farmer who allegedly fired shots at youths stealing gas from his farm.

Bruce Croal will go to trial June 4 on a charge of assault with a weapon. The 46-year-old farmer was charged last March following a shooting incident on his farm approximately 30 kilometres south of Weyburn.

Police allege on March 28 last year, shots were fired at a vehicle containing four young men in an attempt by the farm owner to thwart the theft of gasoline. There were no injuries.
