Road restrictions

Manitoba has announced a new spring road restriction system which went into effect March 23. There are three primary changes.

  • The restriction period will be based on fixed start and end dates.
  • Weight levels will be based on a simpler percentage formula

to determine maximum weight

allowed.

Other commodities, such as construction equipment, may be transported but only with a permit controlling allowable weights and routes traveled.

New market analyst

Kevin Grier has been appointed market analyst at the George Morris Centre based at the University of Guelph, Ont.

He is writer and publisher of PDR Notes and Canadian Cattle Buyer, publications that were formerly under the umbrella of the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture. They are now operated through the centre and will continue to be handled by Grier.

The George Morris Centre is an independent agriculture and food think tank.
