Tony Bos’s Boston Farms Ltd. has been named McCain Champion Potato Grower from the company’s plant near Coaldale, Alta., for the third time in the last four years.
It’s also the seventh time the farm has made McCain’s top 10 grower list.
Potatoes are awarded points throughout the year for size, gravity, defect level and colour.
The top 10 growers are determined at the end of each crop year based on their overall scores.
The other top growers, in order of final standing, were:

• Lane Lievaart, Lane Lievaart Farms Ltd., Coaldale;
• Laus Stiekema, Stiekema Farms Ltd., Vauxhall;
• Greg, Bruce and David Nakamura, Nakamura Farms Ltd., Taber;
• Stan and Stuart Kanegawa, S-Scan Farms Ltd., Scandia.
