Wheat mostly lower in December PRO

The December Canadian Wheat Board Pool Return Outlook has wheat steady to down $6 per tonne from November. In the past month, estimates of the global wheat crop have increased thanks to good Northern Hemisphere crops, the CWB said.

Speculative investment, which supported grain prices in November have fallen off in recent weeks.

No. 1 CW red spring wheat 11.5 percent protein at port is $216 per tonne, down from $221 in November.

The durum outlook is down by $2 to $3 per tonne. World durum production estimates are up from last month. North Africa received beneficial rain recently.

No. 1 CW amber durum 13 percent protein is $214 per tonne, down from $216.

The feed barley outlook is unchanged. Feed barley price spreads between the Black Sea, Europe and Canada have narrowed. U.S. corn futures prices fluctuated widely on uncertainty about the size of the U.S. harvest.

No. 1 CW feed barely Pools A and B are steady at $152 per tonne.

The malting barley outlook rose by $3 per tonne. Bad weather late in the season hurt Australian barley quality. China has been a steady malting barley buyer but is price sensitive, the CWB said.

Select two-row barley is $211 per tonne,, up from $208 and Select six-row is $193 per tonne, up from $190.
