Sheep markets remain steady

Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported 533 sheep and lambs and 420 goats traded Nov. 16.

The sheep market was steady. Goats fell $20 per hundredweight.

Lambs lighter than 70 lb. were $113-$156 per cwt.; lambs 75 to 85 lb. were $121-$148; 86 to 105 lb. were $113-$136 and those heavier than 105 lb. were $102-$120.

Rams were $40-$64 per cwt. Ewe culls were $30-$65. Breeding ewes were $79-$92.

Good kid goats heavier than 50 lb. were $140-$187.50 per cwt. Nannies were $60-$90 and bred does were $80-$125. Mature billies were $103-$145.

Ontario Stockyards reported 1,807 sheep and lambs and 179 goats traded Nov. 16. All sheep, lambs and goats sold actively at higher prices, due to the coming holiday.
