We’re not in the habit of “PhotoShopping” any of the photos you’ll normally find here on www.producer.com, but the rest of the world seems to be having some fun with this so we thought we would, too.

The couple submitted the photo to a National Geographic photo contest, and it was posted online on the National Geographic site on August 7.

From there it’s become an internet phenomenon spawning hundreds, if not thousands, of spoofs on the same theme.

“We had our camera set up on some rocks and were getting ready to take the picture when this curious little ground squirrel appeared, became intrigued with the sound of the focusing camera and popped right into our shot!” Brandts wrote in her submission to National Geographic.

“A once in a lifetime moment!” said Brandts. “We were laughing about this little guy for days!”
