The federal government has approved increases to initial payments for wheat, durum and designated barley.
The Canadian Wheat Board reported Feb. 16 that wheat initials will rise by $30 per tonne. With the increase, the initial payment for No. 1 CW red spring wheat now stands at $243 per tonne, or $6.61 per bushel, at port. That represents 82 percent of the January Pool Return Outlook.
Durum initials increase by $25.80 per tonne.
Designated barley rises by $39 per tonne for both two-row and six-row types.
The increases apply to all grades and classes.
Adjustment payments for grain already delivered will be mailed by March 6 or received by direct deposit March 3.
