Rural residents no longer have to do the detective work to get information about weddings, says Trevor Chilton, marketing director of a marriage website.
“It takes the stress out,” said Chilton of Saskweddings.com.
Among the site’s information is the statistic that 5,000 weddings a year are held in Saskatchewan and that the average age at marriage is 29.
The two-year-old website lists 113 wedding service businesses in Saskatchewan. Each vendor offers coupons for discounts.
Provincial expansion
Chilton said the website started by listing only Regina businesses but recently expanded provincially.
The site helps users track down sales and rentals for wedding gear and provides free information about planning a wedding, including traditions, etiquette and ceremony information. It also includes links to necessary government forms and procedures. A calendar lists bridal shows in the province.
Chilton is most proud of the website’s feature that allows the consumers to print their own wedding announcements. It can also be used for engagement or anniversary notices.
