Green hay

Producers have more choices for hay equipment from North American Deere dealers. John Deere is including the Frontier line of hay tools to complement its own machines.

This includes wheel and rotary rakes, bale spears and the Frontier bale processor.

New cart-based wheel rakes have between eight and 19 wheels, with the largest being the 34.5 foot wide WR34. Two new rotary rakes are available in nine and 11 feet widths. The bale spear is a three fork design capable of supporting 2,500 pounds. The BP1166 bale processor is mounted on a tractor’s three point hitch and is self loading. Challenger cab design

Agco’s Challenger MT700, 800 and 900 series tractors have new cab features intended to improve operator control of the machines. The new controls centralize key functions on a control panel near the operator.

Power management is controlled by a button, co-ordinating engine speed with the transmission for improved efficiency. Two preset speeds can be selected with a single switch, allowing for improved seeding unit operation, especially in small seeded crops where placement is critical. The second speed setting is useful in headland turns and where p.t.o. speeds need to be maintained. Operators can preprogram their headland settings into a single button that will perform a variety of actions, freeing the operator to steer and observe equipment. Hydraulics are also operated from six fingertip controls.

Playing well with others

New Holland’s Precision Land Management system’s Intelliview Plus II 10.5 inch monitors are now able to work with two third-party variable rate controllers and have a new user interface with New Holland and Flexi-Coil pull-type sprayers and air seeder carts.

Raven and Rawson controllers will now work with the company’s PLM electronics. This will let these implements use the New Holland Intelliview unit to provide map-based variable rate application and as-applied mapping and provide a user interface for the operator.
