SASKATCHEWAN
South
- Crops are in very good condition but seeding is delayed in some areas due to excessive moisture. Many fields will not be seeded.
- Weed pressure is high, especially wild oats. Spraying is underway.
- Tan spot and septoria are reported in cereal crops. Ascochyta is reported in chickpeas, and fungicide is being applied.
- Pastures and hay crops are in very good condition.
Central
- Cool, wet weather has slowed crop development.
- Wet conditions have delayed seeding progress in eastern areas like Elfros, where only 80 percent of the intended acreage has been seeded.
- West-central areas also experienced heavy rains, with low areas flooded out.
- Heavy weed growth is getting ahead of crops.
- Disease pressure is increasing in cereals.
- Pastures and hay crops are in very good condition.
West
- Crops are in very good condition, but weed growth is very heavy.
- Cool, wet weather has slowed crop development.
- Heavy gopher damage caused reseeding near Swift Current.
- Flea beetles are a problem. Fields are being sprayed.
- Seedling blight is reported in canola and camelina fields.
- Pastures and hay crops are in very good condition.
North
- Seeding is delayed in the northeast and many fields will not be seeded.
- Low areas show flood damage.
- Weed growth is heavy and spraying has begun.
- Hay and pasture crops are in very good condition.
ALBERTA
South
- Crop conditions are ideal but wet, cool weather has slowed growth of silage corn and dry beans.
- Weed growth is heavy and getting ahead of crops.
- Moisture conditions range from wet to excessive, with seeding at Drumheller only 85 percent completed.
- Pastures and hay crops show above average growth.
Central
- Very wet conditions in western areas delayed seeding and many fields will not be seeded.
- Low lying areas are flooded.
- Weed growth is very heavy and ahead of crop development. Weed control has just begun.
- Hayland and pastures are very good with some first cuts taken off.
North
- Crops generally are in very good condition but many were seeded late due to wet and cool weather.
- Weed pressure is heavy and spraying has just begun.
- Many canola fields have seedling blight problems.
- Hay and pasture fields are in very good condition.
Peace River
- Cool, wet weather and heavy snow at La Crete slowed crop growth.
- Some areas experienced light frosts that slowed plant growth.
- Weed growth is heavy and herbicides are being applied.
