WINNIPEG (Staff) – Although the “Canada Inc.” alliance is new, the companies involved are hardly neophytes at working in China.

Agri-Tec Canada, which is coordinating the effort, has done considerable work in China. It is an export marketing consortium of 18 companies from Western Canada. Other members in the new alliance also have experience in China.

“We’re not new at it,” said Don Neufeld, a director with Agri-Tec. “Basically, it’s an extension of what we’ve been doing.”

The consortium can usually handle projects worth up to $40 million.
