Veterinarians’ program

Support is available for Alberta veterinarians dealing with unusual or challenging livestock health problems.

The Livestock Pathology Consultation Program provides support services such as telephone consultations and necropsy examinations, depending on the nature of the disease.

Also, through the Livestock Disease Investigation Network, experts can provide consultations, suggest diagnostic approaches and conduct field investigations on significant disease problems.

The program is a component of the Alberta Veterinary Surveillance Network, designed to quickly detect and disseminate information about emerging disease problems.

For more information, contact veterinary pathologist Janet Bystrom at 403-912-3309. For more information on the network, contact veterinary epidemiologist Sylvia Checkley at 780-427-8228.
