Much above normal precipitation has been recorded throughout most of Alberta.
As of Dec. 1, 2006, snow accumulation in the mountains was average to above average in the Oldman River and Bow River basins and much above average in the Red Deer River basin.
Mountain snow pack is an important source of water to reservoirs in the spring.
The only exceptions to the snowfall were the Fort Chipewyan, High Level and Fort McMurray areas of northern Alberta, which had below normal to above normal precipitation.
The Oyen, Lethbridge, High River and Sundre areas received much below to below normal precipitation.
Soil moisture conditions are generally very wet in the Edmonton to Red Deer Region and dry in the Peace River and Medicine Hat to Lethbridge regions.
