Wild oats herbicide
The Gowan Company recently introduced X-tra Strength Avadex BW for wild oat control.
This is a more highly concentrated form of Avadex BW herbicide in an easy to handle formulation.
X-tra Strength Avadex has more active ingredient per litre, which means lower use rates and logistical and warehousing advantages not enjoyed by the granular MicroActiv formulation or the older EC formulation. The new formulation also eliminates the need for specialized granular application equipment.
It can be easily added to fertilizer, which allows growers to save a pass across the field by applying their nutrients and herbicide at the same time.

Fungicide registered
The registration of Switch 62.5WG brings a modern fungicide to Canadian fruit and vegetable producers.
It is built on the active ingredients cyprodinil and fludioxonil and is designed to control botrytis on horticultural crops.
Switch has systemic and contact activity and two modes of action. These layers of protection mean fungal pathogens encounter four hurdles to infection. It also has a favourable safety profile.
Switch was classified as a reduced risk product by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and
was reviewed by Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency
as a reduced risk product.
Switch is now registered for control of botrytis on strawberries, raspberries and blackberries, control of botrytis and anthracnose on blueberries, control of botrytis and suppression of purple blotch on onions, control of alternaria leaf blight on carrots, control of powdery mildew on turnips and mustard greens and suppression of alternaria leaf blight on cabbage.
