WCE board changes

The Winnipeg Commodity Exchange’s board of directors has elected Lorne DeJaeger as chair.

DeJaeger was formerly with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce but is now an independent consultant. Last year he was WCE’s vice-chair.

The exchange is governed by a 13-person board of directors, including three outside directors who are neither participants or employees or affiliates of participants, as well as the president and chief executive officer.

Joining the board this year are Pete Anderson of FC Stone Group, Bern Kotelko of Highland Feeders, Sandi Mielitz, formerly of Canadian National Railway and now retired and Ray Wyse of Archer Daniels Midland.

FCC workshops

Farm Credit Canada is holding a series of four half- or full-day workshops across Canada that focus on financial management for farm and agribusiness operators and how to hire, train and keep top employees.

Workshops are held in partnership with the Canadian Farm Business Management Council and will be delivered in an informal, hands-on setting.

FCC is also offering an advanced farm manager course that teaches business planning and management skills. For more information, contact the nearest FCC office or visit www.agrisuccess.ca.
