An Ontario-based semen and genetics-exporting company has won a role in Poland’s efforts to improve its cattle herd.

The Semex Alliance of Guelph last week signed an agreement with Polish company Osrodek Hodowli Zarodowej Osieciny Sp to market semen in Poland and to train Polish workers to use the technology.

The $400,000 project will have $350,000 “in Canadian content,” according to an announcement from the office of prime minister Jean ChrĹ˝tien.

The Poles, poised to enter the European Union, are trying to improve the quality of beef and dairy herds.

Semex officials were with ChrŽtien two weeks ago when he visited Poland and other European countries on a trade mission.
