No-till drill

Case has introduced a single-disk opener no-till drill for seeding in high residue fields with minimal disturbance.

Combined with the Case IH Concord air system, the SDX30 provides a flexible no-till system.

The design allows growers to seed in conventional conditions with 250 pounds of down pressure on each opener. But in pasture, sod or extreme soil conditions, the force can increase to up to 500 lb.

The down pressure on each opener can be adjusted to ensure uniform seed depth and placement. Adjustments are in 1.3-centimetre (half-inch) increments from zero to 8.9 cm (3.5 inches). No tools are required.

The single disk has a five-degree angle with a diameter of 57 cm (22.5 in.) The angle of the opener disk and the gauge wheel work together to reduce side wall compaction.

Chaffer handles

Loewen has expanded its line of adjustable chaffer handles to include John Deere combines.

The new handles are designed to fit the 9000 series chaffers and extensions. A crank kit is available for the pre-cleaner.

The spring-loaded handle has a comfortable grip. Special indexing allows for accurate settings.

The handles are also available as a universal kit that, with modifications, can fit onto existing chaffers and sieves of all makes and models of combines.

Gandy Co. has introduced a new forage additive applicator. Its 2.3 cubic foot capacity translucent polyethylene applicator can hold about 45 kilograms (100 pounds) of dry flowable product.

Features include positive displacement metering and an electric motor drive with in-cab rate control to compensate for changes in hay and silage flow. The metering system comes in two-, three- or four-outlet configurations.

Options include a universal mount designed to fit many v-hitches of large round balers, and a 250 cubic foot per minute blower package to assist flow to the take-up chambers.

Poly hoppers and steel hoppers with cam gauge metering are also available.
