Increased horsepower and new productivity features are the highlights

of the new 4995 windrower and 994 rotary platform from John Deere.

With a 6.8 litre PowerTech engine generating 182 horsepower, the 4995

has 10 more horsepower than the previous model 4990.

Standard tires on the 4995 are Goodyear 18.4 x 26 (R3), 12-ply button

platform and an eight-disk, 13 foot platform for narrow transport and

better maneuverability.

The platforms have three conditioner options: impeller, steel roll and

urethane roll.

The 994 rotary platforms feature large heavy-duty cutting disks that

rotate toward the centre of the platform. This centre rotation design

improves cut quality by minimizing uncut crop in the field.

Shear hub protection prevents damage to internal cutterbar components

when the cutting disk hits a solid object.

Pipe plow

The new PL-24C Pipe Plow from Empire Welding and Machining Ltd. is

designed to plow two-inch PVC diameter pipe to a depth of 24 inches.

It is equipped with a hard-surfaced ripper-style blade, rear-reel

hydraulic-controlled arms that fold down to handle all ranges of reels,

and a dynamic and sturdy four-by-four foot frame with farm and highway

tires. It has a power requirement of about 100 to 150 horsepower.

Special features include a depth gauge, transport locks, adjustable

hitch, heavy-duty jack, hydraulic hose holder, rock and tool trays,

rear hitch, and anti-scuff rollers on the pipe-laying boot.

A coulter option is available. It cleanly cuts through sod and tree

roots, preventing the roots from being ripped from the ground and piled

up in front of the blade.

The manufacturer says the Ultra Plow is affordable for contractors,

rental depots, rural municipalities, the Prairie Farm Rehabilitation

Administration and groups of producers.

Pesticide mixing system

Focus Industries has introduced two new versions of the Handler, its

pesticide mixing and induction equipment.

The company has reworked the plumbing design based on user comments to

create a smaller, more effective package.

The unit now comes partially assembled and should be put together and

ready to use in about 15 minutes.

Handler 1 i15t has a threaded fitting and Handler 1 i15m has a Banjo

threadless manifold fitting.

The Handler comes with a knife that allows users to cut, mix, empty and

discard a jug of chemical in 30 seconds. There is a built- in agitator

to mix powders, a high-visibility 59 litre calibrated cone-bottom tank,

a glass-filled poly-propylene threaded or threadless venture, and a

stable, welded steel frame.

The company also makes larger models.
