Stump grinder
Stumpster Canada is manufacturing and selling North America’s first self-levelling, tractor-mounted stump grinding machine. The new 3000-4 series grinds stumps and chases above-ground roots to 20 centimetres (eight inches) below the surface. The machine uses the tractor’s engine and power take-off to eliminate machine wear and maintenance requirements. It uses a 26 in. grinding wheel of 3Ú4 in. steel plate fitted with carbide cutting bits.
At a cost of $6,400 it is used by landscapers, farmers, utilities, municipalities, conservation authorities, tree growers and sawmill operators.
Stumpster also manufacturers and sell the Tree Hog, a tractor-mounted tree and stump cutting machine. It uses a 40 cm (16 in.) diameter, 3Ú4 in. steel plate wheel with carbide cutting bits to handle softwood and hardwood trees up to 40 cm in diameter. Built-in logger tongs allow the operator to grasp and haul the felled tree without ever leaving the tractor seat.

Label change for desiccant
Harvest, AgrEvo’s desiccant, is now registered for use on canola and lentil crops grown for seed.
Harvest is a desiccant that gradually dries down an entire plant. Its active ingredient, glufosinate ammonium, is derived from a naturally-occurring micro-organism in the soil. Harvest works in lentil crops because the crop keeps growing as long as conditions are favorable.
Using Harvest avoids the crop’s susceptibility to disease and staining while in the swath. In canola, Harvest can reduce the number of green seeds, even in heavy crop stands. The product helps when straight combining Polish varieties and evens out maturity in Argentine varieties.
