Light hauler saves freight cost

Doepker Industries Ltd. of Annaheim, Sask., says it now has the lightest steel grain trailers in North America.

The Open End Steel Bulker super B trailer weighs 9,010 kilograms. This increases payload capacity and lowers overall operating weights for grain transportation.

With a sticker price of about $90,000, the new super B is more expensive than some steel trailer systems.

The company said that despite its light weight, the frame and heavy duty ReycoÐIngersol GK Atlas suspension are more than tough enough for prairie grain hauling conditions.

For that itch

Happy Cow, a computer-operated cow brush, cleans and removes parasites from animals.

The cow starts the brush with a trip switch and the brush rotates 46 times. A timer prevents the cow from operating the brush continuously. If the brush is overloaded by counter pressure, the motor stops for a short time, then starts in the opposite direction.

The German-made device consists of 60 plates on a special mount. The shape adapts to the cow’s body.

Backhoe fits small tractor

Land Pride has a new line of backhoes for use with smaller tractors.

Four new models feature maximum digging depths ranging from two to 3.8 metres, and bucket options from 23 to 91 centimetres. Skid steer models are also available.

The hydraulic cylinders feature NitroSteel black piston rods for long wear and corrosion resistance. Strength is also a factor in the tubular and box-designed frame on the boom and dipper stick assemblies.

A hydraulic swing cushion valve prevents shock loads at the end of swing travel. A wide support base with large steel foot pads provide more stability and safer operational control.

The hydraulics are operated with two lever controls. There is an adjustable folding seat.
