Round baler
Hesston has a new fixed-chamber round baler with electronic controls that offers automatic bale tying.
Like the model 514 it replaces, the new 814 baler produces five-by-six foot bales.
New features include an optional hydraulically driven pickup and optional mesh wrap. The hydraulic pickup is controlled by a double-acting remote valve on the tractor that runs the pickup at speeds from 80 to 120 rpm.
It can also be equipped with an electric pick-up lift, allowing the operator to move the pickup without leaving the tractor seat.

Field management software
The Field History Manager farm management software program has been updated.
The program helps farmers keep track of input cost returns, break-even yields and price per unit, rotations and crop in storage.
The new addition is an elaborate storage feature that allows farmers to enter information on crops sold or in storage.
The program is designed to be used when applying for Manitoba Crop Insurance coverage. Several improvements have been made in that area as well.
A demo of last year’s program can be downloaded at www.escape.ca/~amaendel.
The package includes an installation CD, a manual, technical support and future updates.
It is available on either Windows or Macintosh.
