Power generator

On many farms, it is important to maintain power to critical areas during a blackout.

Schneider Canada has introduced the Square D QC generator panel that allows users to switch to a standby power source during a power outage.

The Square D has two factory-installed, mechanically interlocked main circuit breakers. One main is served by the local utility, the other by an alternative power source such as a generator.

In an outage, the utility main is shut off and the standby breaker is turned on.

The panel can supply up to eight circuits feeding emergency applications.

There are two models, one has two 30-amp main breakers and is intended for generators up to 7.2 kW.

The other has two 60-amp breakers and works with generators up to 14.4 kW.
