Award-winning designs
Flexi-Coil’s new double-shoot Barton opener has been recognized as a 1998 outstanding innovation by the Society of Agricultural
Engineers.
The Barton opener won the award for incorporating seed and fertilizer separation in a low-disturbance, no-till seeder.
The opener uses an 18-inch primary disc mounted at a compound angle to place fertilizer in a very narrow furrow. A second 12-inch disc uses the same soil incision, but cuts at an opposite angle, penetrating the side wall of the furrow to place the seed above and to the side of the fertilizer.

A v-shaped press wheel closes and packs the slot for seed-to-soil contact.
The design penetrates residue and soil better than vertical discs and requires less down pressure.
Electronic system
Flexi-Coil won the same award for its electronics system.
The FlexControl system allows a single console to control a range of implements. It can monitor and control Flexi-Coil seeding, planting, fertilizing, spraying and seed treatment equipment individually or in combination.
It can be used in combination with precision farming GPS systems.
