Cattle handling equipment

The Cow Jack was developed in Australia to assist disabled cattle to stand without causing them further trauma.

The pelvic support system fits around the animal and is adjustable for size. Lifting power is supplied by a front-end loader or chain block.

The undercarriage support allows the animal free movement of limbs, and udder access is provided.

There is also a wheeled undercarriage support so the animal can be released while standing.

Field instructions and veterinary advice are provided with the equipment.

Spray booms

Great Plains Manufacturing has introduced the CF500 and CF600 50-foot and 60-foot (15-18 metre) cross folding booms and new wet-boom plumbing.

The two models feature gas shocks for side to side stability. When coupled with a suspended elevator, the booms have minimal bounce in rough terrain and provide more consistent and accurate spraying height.

The wet boom is available only on the CF500 and CF600 models. It has three-quarter inch (two centimetre) plastic tubing, eight p.s.i. nozzle bodies and one-inch (2.5 cm) feed lines. The wet boom is designed to ensure equal flow and pressure to all nozzles.

The spray booms come in 20- or 30-inch (50- or 76-cm) nozzle spacing and fold to a transport width of 12 feet, nine inches (388 cm). They can be three-point mounted for use with tractor tanks.

Water conditioner

Loveland Industries has introduced Choice, a new water conditioning product that increases herbicide uptake.

The product ties up hard water ions that can hurt the performance of glyphosate-based herbicides.

The company says the product, which comes in a liquid formulation, is less corrosive on equipment than ammonium sulfate. It also improves the compatibility of products tank-mixed in solution.

For more information phone Loveland at 800-356-8920.

Portable crane

The Swift Lift Crane offers an electric hydraulic-powered crane designed for pick-up trucks. The unit resembles a rollbar, but turns into a lift for hoisting engines, barrels of fuel or any object up to 270 kilograms (600 pounds.)

It also offers three metres (10 feet) of cord and remote control.
