Battery extender
Pulse Tech Products has a line of products that extends battery life and improves battery performance.
Solargizer and PowerPulse attack sulfate buildup in lead-acid batteries.
Lead sulfates form on battery plates during the normal charge-discharge cycles. Some sulfates get bigger and don’t accept energy. They continue to build up until the battery dies.
The Solargizer and PowerPulse emit a pulsating DC current into the battery that removes sulfate deposits and returns them to the battery acid. The Solargizer is a solar-powered device while the PowerPulse uses the battery’s own energy to clean the plates.

Herbicides registered
Dow AgroScience Canada has received registration for two new post-emergent broadleaf herbicides for use in spring wheat, durum, barley and oats. The active ingredients in Frontline are florasulam (Group 2) and MCPA ester (Group 4).
This combination offers two modes of action with complementary control spectrums for broadleaf weeds.
The other product, Spectrum, also has a florasulam and MCPA ester with the addition of clopyralid (Group 4).
Frontline and Spectrum can each be mixed and applied with most common grassy weed herbicides including Horizon, Puma 120 Super and Assert. For best control, weeds should be actively growing and the crop should be in the three-leaf to flag-leaf stage.
In addition to controlling many tough broadleaf weeds, the herbicides suppress Canada thistle, dandelion and perennial sow thistle.
They control all types of volunteer herbicide-tolerant canola.

Marking system
Vac-Pac has improved its Vac-Marc System.
The system has an automatic reloading syringe that will mark the animal while injecting medicine.
The colored mark will be applied within five centimetres of the injection site and will remain on the animal for up to 10 days, depending on weather. The marks identify which animals have been treated and the color identifies the medicine used. The new version has an improved spray valve that is expected to allow 500-525 marks per can.
