Self-propelled linear irrigator
Lockwood Corp. of Gering, Neb. recently introduced a new four-wheel, four-wheel-drive, hose-pull cart to its linear irrigation systems.
Dubbed the “4×4 linear”, the mobile irrigation system, adapted from centre-pivot systems, uses an overhead pipeline that moves straight down a field, delivering water to 98 percent of a typical rectangular field. Water is supplied to the machine through lengths of high-density polyethylene hose.
The 4×4 linear provides good traction and high flotation in muddy fields, but still allows for longer lengths of hose to be used, giving the farmer extended times between hose changes. The system uses a furrow guide or above-ground cable to keep the system on-line while irrigating.

Used oil storage
Westeel has introduced a double-containment, used-oil storage tank called the Recycoil tank. The unit is rectangular and has a capacity of 1,125 litres (250 gallons).
It is designed primarily for farmers, farm equipment dealerships, service stations and rural municipalities. The unit can be installed on any level surface and transported when empty in the bed of a half-ton truck.

Summerfallow herbicide
DuPont Canada has announced Express Pack, its broadleaf herbicide used primarily in the Palliser Triangle for spring wheat, durum and barley crops, is now registered for use on summerfallow.
The herbicide controls 20 broadleaf weeds, including kochia, Russian thistle and flixweed. Express Pack leaves no residue, allowing flexible cropping plans for the following year.
