Chute assistance
The Tailgate, a new product from Dave’s Livestock in Fisher Branch, Man., promises to eliminate the problem of cattle backing out of chutes. The device is adjustable to fit metal or wooden chutes 20-36 inches (50-90 centimetres) wide.
The vertical bar is mounted on a hinge and attached at a height where it can swing up as the animal passes through. Once the animal is in the chute, the bar falls down, blocking the exit.
The bar can be lowered to accommodate smaller cattle and calves and it can be locked open to allow cattle to back out of chutes if necessary.
