Brush chipper
Vermeer Manufacturing Co. has recently introduced a 2.8 metre (nine-foot) model to its p.t.o.-powered line of brush chippers. The 906 chews up 22 centimetre (nine-inch) wood, even railroad ties, easily. Powered by a tractor’s p.t.o., it features hydraulic feed and a self-feeding roller which drags material into the housing containing the cutting disc. Cutting wheel speed is 1,300 r.p.m. A manual feed control bar lets operators start, stop and reverse the feed process. A two-way discharge chute can blow chips to either side of the unit.

Revalor-S registered
Feedlots now have access to a new growth promotant. The animal health department of Hoechst Canada has recently registered Revalor-S. It has been available in the U.S. for two years. In American feeding trials conducted by Hoechst, Revalor-S increased daily gains by five to 25 percent, improved feed efficiency by 10 to 15 percent and increased feedlot performance by five to seven percent over other estradiol implants. Its active ingredient is trenbolone estradiol, an androgen that works by directly increasing protein synthesis and promoting muscle growth. Revalor-S is a terminal implant, registered for steers only, for use in the last 120 days of the feeding period.
