Diesel generator

Rodi has launched a line of portable diesel water pumps and air-cooled diesel electric generators rated from 3,000 to 5,000 watts.

The water pumps are for light irrigation or seasonal flooding.

They are outfitted with five centimetre to 7.6-cm cast aluminum water pumps, capable of handling 727 to 910 litres per minute.

The engines are fuel injected for fuel efficiency and are equipped for long running times without refueling.

Trailer suspension

RTS Systems Ltd. has introduced some modifications to its line of RoadTamer independent suspensions for trailers.

The suspensions can be used on farm equipment, stock trailers, and recreational and industrial trailers. Originally designed by Lea Mino of North Battleford, Sask., the independent axles system is designed to provide a smoother ride with less sway and greater fuel economy.

The systems use common axle components.

The RoadTamer offset axle helps prevent tires on opposite sides of trailers from hitting holes in the road at the same time. Axles come assembled and aligned on a subframe.

Seed treatment

Graham Seed Farmers has a new pulse seed treating system.

The G3 treater has been calibrated for cereals, peas, chickpeas and lentils. The higher rate of solution assures seed coverage and softness of the seed hull, which reduces the potential for cracking during seed movement.

The system can apply Apron, Crown Thiram, Vitaflow 280 and liquid inoculants.

The G3 transforms a controlled flow of grain into a three-inch air-suspended curtain of grain. Treatment is cross-applied to the grain curtain, which uniformly covers each kernel. Seed can go to a transfer auger or bean ladder for further mixing or directly into trucks or seeders.

Graham also sells the P2 air tank seed treater. It can be used in the field because it has no power requirement.

The 19-litre stainless steel container can be filled with water-based chemical and pressurized with 50 p.s.i. air to supply a G3 or A4 applicator. The A4 adapter comes pre-calibrated for Vitaflow 280, Dividend, Raxil and Charter.

Guidance system

Straw Track Manufacturing has introduced the Smart Hitch, a guidance system allowing farmers to seed between stubble rows in zero-till operations.

The system uses electric sensors that follow seed row contours, sending signals to a hydraulic solenoid valve that controls a hydraulic cylinder.

The cylinder controls the movement of a hitch that guides the opener between the stubble rows.

The results, says the manufacturer, are more uniform germination, less weed competition, less power required to pull the seeder, and less straw for the opener to deal with.

It can be mounted on any make of zero-till seeder and most tractors.
