Software for ranchers

SIGA Farm Software has a new computer program for beef producers.

SIGABeef for Windows calculates rations for feedlot and cow-calf operations in one software package.

It calculates least-cost rations by maximizing the use of cheaper feeds while balancing the ration to meet the animal’s nutrient needs.

The package, in English and French, is based on the National Research Council’s 1996 nutrition recommendations for beef cattle.

However, it is easy to change the requirements and adapt it to different situations.

Software for crops

SIGA also has field and crop management software for Windows.

SIGAField integrates three main modules: a field notepad, precision farming and fertilizer recommendations.

The field notepad module keeps a history of all operations including soil preparation, seeding, mineral and green fertilizer application, manure, chemical applications and harvests.

Graphs help interpret the information.

Using SIGAField for pocket PCs, operators can enter data in the pocket computer that is automatically transferred to SIGAField.

SIGAField also processes and displays data from yield monitors and variable rate application maps.

SIGAField will be available on CD ROM in March for the Field notepad and in fall 2001 for the precision farming and fertilizer modules.
