Computer cow roundup

Two Montana cattle producers are using computers to round up cattle.

The One Good Cow program has a website to help get the word out that more cattle are needed to replace the thousands lost in last winter’s snows and this spring’s floods.

Michelle Tebay and Lisa Schmidt, two Montana women, co-founded the program. They felt farmers and ranchers would be able to rebuild their herds if others donated one good cow. The first 80 cows have been delivered to their new homes in Montana, North and South Dakota areas especially hard hit.

The internet site www.onegoodcow.org has detailed descriptions of the program and how to donate money or a cow.

The site also has cow coloring books, postcards and a page of moo sounds to help liven up the site.

Organizers want other agriculture internet sites to provide a link to their site to help spread the word.
