Dec. 31 is the deadline for several aspects of the Net Income Stabilization Account.
It is the final application deadline for making a NISA deposit at a financial institution, for requesting a withdrawal from the NISA account and for return of the 1998 NISA interim withdrawal application.
Withdrawals made after Dec. 1, 1998 may not be issued until 1999. Withdrawals from Fund 2 are taxable in the year the payment is issued.

Located on Highway 2 just east of Highway 10, the terminal offers high speed unloading and weighing facilities. It is equipped to load a 100-car train within 10 hours.
It is expected to handle about 10 million bushels a year, a company news release said.
A farm service outlet will be added in spring. It will offer fertilizer, farm chemicals, seed, application services and agronomic consulting.

A University of Saskatchewan research team will get about $750,000 from the federal government and industry over four years to develop canola that is resistant to major pests.
The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council’s strategic grain program will provide $441,100, and $308,000 will come from industry and Agriculture Canada’s matching investments initiative.
Dwayne Hegedus, a U of S professor who heads Agriculture Canada’s molecular plant protection lab, said in a news release the work will take five to 10 years.
The U of S project will use plant gene transfer to target pests such as diamondback moth, flea beetle, root maggot and Bertha armyworm.
The team includes George Khachatourians, a U of S applied microbiology and food science professor, Lorraine Braun of Agriculture Canada and Sean Hemmingsen of the Plant Biotechnology Institute.
