Mild weather pushed across the Prairies on the weekend with northern areas of Alberta and Saskatchewan receiving rain/snow this morning. The rest of the Prairies are expected to be dry through the day. A high pressure system has pushed into the Prairies and will remain in place for most of the week. This will result in minimal amounts of precipitation across most of the Prairie region. Parts of northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba will receive scattered amounts of precipitation in the 5 to 10 mm (water equivalent) range.

GOOD MORNING…HERE IS YOUR MORNING MARKET NEWS OVERNIGHT GRAIN TRADE Grain markets are in the green to start this morning….
Mild temperatures are covering the Prairies this morning and most locations will push above the freezing mark this afternoon. Highs will range from the low positive single digits in the eastern Prairies today. The mild weather will continue through the week with highs mostly in the low single digits with southwestern locations of the Prairies still moving into the teens. A shot of cold weather will push temperatures back below the freezing mark by Friday in the eastern Prairies. The western Prairies will remain mild with temperatures remaining above the freezing mark.

A pattern shift is indicated in the long term forecast with cooler than normal temperatures expected to return to the eastern Prairies while western areas will drop to normal levels. This forecasts a return to the clipper system pattern that was present during December. Above normal temperatures will still be present in the central and southern U.S. during the last week of the month. This will bring above normal precipitation to the central and northern Prairies.
