The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $78.58 Sept. 30 and $80.15 Sept. 23.
U.S. hogs averaged $102.25 on a carcass basis Sept. 30, down from $106.99 Sept. 23.

OlyWest 2021 was down, at $266.20, from $271.10, and HyLife’s adjusted price was $267.12 this week. On Sept. 20 it was $267.78.
Bison
The Canadian Bison Association reported domestic carcass prices of $645-$700 per cwt., hot hanging weight, for finished bulls and $620-$665 cwt for finished heifers. Mature bulls were $500-$550, while mature cows were $500-$550 per cwt.
Carcass prices for bison sold into the United States were US$495-$510 per cwt. for bulls and $455-$480 per cwt. for heifers. Prices for mature bulls and cows were not available.
All prices are subject to fluctuations in the market and dollar exchange rates.
Prices for live bison in Canada were not available.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 301 sheep and 546 lambs sold Sept. 29.
Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alta., reported that 1,908 sheep and 568 goats sold Sept. 22.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $360-$445 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $340-$395, 70-85 lb. were $295-$350, 86-105 lb. were $270-$355, and 106 lb. and heavier were $235-$285. Wool rams were $185-$235 per cwt. Cull ewes were $165-$270.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $330-$440, 55-69 lb. were $300-$390, 70-85 lb. were $280-$330, 86-105 lb. were $270-$320 and 106 lb. and heavier were $230-$295. Hair rams were $175-$215 per cwt. Cull ewes were $170-$280.
